Okay it had been awhile since I updated this site. When I got called on it and looked at it, I realized it was January and 50 below. Well, guess what. It is June and not much warmer. We have had a busy spring at the shop and now we are trying to get ready for a summer that doesn't want to come.
Our Block of the Month is probably the best we have ever done. We are doing the Civil War Underground Railroad blocks and having a blast. My friend Autumn loves the Civil War and each month is dressing like one of the women from that time and giving a history lesson. It has given me an appreciation for what quilts meant back then and what they mean today. We sometimes take for granted our ability to make these beautiful heirlooms. The resources God has given us for fabric, notions and all the books and patterns. When I think of what they used back in those days compared to what we have available now is unbelievable. What an awesome opportunity we have in our country and all the people that have fought to give us the freedom. Let's not ever take that for granted!!!! Don't forget to thank a soldier.
Which brings me to another topic. We have a woman in our guild that is coordinating quilts for wounded soldiers. If you would like to be a part of this and make a quilt or even help on sew days please let me know and I will get you her number. Another great way to thank the people that risk their lives and come back from battle with scars that are sometimes visible and sometimes not.
Don't forget to stop in and see what's new. We have gotten so many new lines and made so many fun things.
Dan and I went to the tri state show last weekend. Spent a bit more than I intended to do but what fun. Brights, bags and clothing are still very hot. When ever Lex sees a fabric she thinks now of clothes or bags. Sometimes I can get her into the quilts mode. I myself love the quilts the most.
May you have a blessed summer and I hope to see you soon. God Bless.
